About YDAT
Youth Development and Training (YDAT) has been delivering quality training since 2009 in schools, community-based organisations, and the private sector in Toowoomba, the Darling Downs area, the Gold Coast, and throughout Australia.
YDAT was founded by Belinda Paul in response to a clear need for a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) dedicated to supporting young people and creating opportunities for those who need a helping hand the most.
Belinda brings extensive experience working in secondary schools, delivering career counselling, and providing early intervention mental health programs. She has a strong background supporting at-risk and disengaged young people.
As Owner and Manager, Belinda oversees all YDAT projects and is responsible for reporting and compliance. YDAT’s core objective is to deliver high-quality training, supported by a skilled and committed team carefully selected to ensure the best outcomes for learners.
Emma Campbell (Trainer)
My professional career began with working for a youth-focused not-for-profit organisation for more than 7 years, where I started as a full-time Business trainee. From there, I expanded my role to support disengaged young people and later worked with an Australian Apprenticeship company as a mentor, focusing on improving apprenticeship engagement and completion rates. I also gained experience as an Industry Training Consultant, managing training contracts and supporting learners through to completion. Alongside my professional work, I am actively involved in local sporting clubs as a volunteer coach and supervisor, inspired by my young children’s participation in sport. I currently work with YDAT delivering Certificate III in Business, Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation, Certificate II and III in Sport Coaching, and Certificate I in Basic Financial Literacy. In addition, I manage YDAT’s social media platforms and online training portal.
Michael Paul (Trainer)
I have been working with Youth Development and Training (YDAT) for seven years, delivering the Certificate II in Animal Care to students across Queensland. Before joining YDAT, I worked as a PE teacher and taught Science and Marine Studies, with experience teaching in secondary schools throughout Queensland and New South Wales. My professional background also includes completing a degree in National Parks and Wildlife, working with AQIS (Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service) alongside detector dogs, and serving as a Senior Wildlife Ranger. I am a passionate advocate for Australian native flora and fauna and have a particular love of dogs. I am also a WIRES (Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service) carer and have cared for orphaned and injured wildlife, particularly wombats and birds.
Lorena Wooderson (Trainer)
I have 25 years of education and experience in business administration/management, training, and assessment. My training background includes extensive and diverse experience delivering Business and Communication qualifications as well as tutoring English to migrants at Toowoomba TAFE. In 2023, I joined the YDAT team and have had the pleasure of delivering Certificate II in Animal Studies to school students in Toowoomba and the surrounding areas. I am also a trained WIRES animal carer and have experience working with a dog rehoming organisation. I currently work with students participating in Skilling Queenslanders for Work projects, delivering Certificate I in Workplace Skills and Certificate I in Retail Services. In addition, I now deliver Certificate III in Business through school-based traineeships. I believe in incorporating emotional intelligence into student learning, as it builds self-awareness and encourages a proactive, engaged approach to learning.
David Fraser (Trainer)
My professional background combines government, corporate and small business experience. I am very involved in supporting communities to promote their strengths, engage with their young people and help create jobs, especially those focused on entrepreneurial pursuits. This includes coordinating the setup and ongoing management of YDAT’s website and Google Workspace. I have worked with YDAT since 2017, previously delivering Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation and Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways. I am currently delivering Certificate III in Business.
