About YDAT
About YDAT
Youth Development and Training has been delivering training in schools, community-based organisations, and the private sector in Toowoomba, the Darling Downs area, the Gold Coast, and across Australia since 2009.
Youth Development and Training (YDAT) was started by Belinda Paul, who felt a real need for a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that focused on young people and offered opportunities to those who needed a helping hand the most.
Belinda's background includes working in secondary schools and providing career counselling and early intervention mental health programs. Belinda also has extensive experience working with at-risk and disengaged young people.
As the owner and manager of YDAT, Belinda oversees all projects and performs all reporting and compliance requirements. YDAT's main objective is to provide quality training, and Belinda has ensured she has the best team to help with this.
Emma Campbell (Trainer)
My professional career began with working for a youth-focused not-for-profit organisation for more than 7 years. I began as a full-time trainee in Business. I then branched into working with disengaged youth and, later on, for an Australian Apprenticeship company as a mentor to improve apprenticeship engagement and completion rates. I also worked as an Industry Training Consultant, where I conducted the completion of the training contract. I am now working at YDAT, delivering Certificate III in Business, Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation, Certificate II and III in Sport Coaching, and Certificate I in Basic Financial Literacy.

I came to Australia from England in December 1990 and have lived in Toowoomba since then. From 1997, I have worked in the VET sector, starting with "The Academy of the Darling Downs". 1999 - 2005, I was a Skill Centred Regional Qld New Apprenticeships Consultant. Since then, I have worked on several contracts for the Business Success Group, including labour hire, the NEIS programme, and traineeships. Since 2021, I have been working with YDAT as a trainer in Certificate III in Business and Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways.
Michael Paul (Trainer)
I have been working with Youth Development and Training (YDAT) for 7 years. I deliver Certificate II in Animal Care to students across Queensland. Before working for YDAT, I was a PE teacher and taught science and marine studies. I have taught in many secondary schools across Queensland and NSW. I have also completed a degree in National Parks and Wildlife and worked in AQIS (Australian Quarantine with sniffer dogs), and as a Senior Wildlife Ranger. I love dogs and am very passionate about Australian native flora and fauna.
Lorena Wooderson (Trainer)
I have 25 years of education and experience in business administration/management, training, and assessment. I have worked in the English Language Faculty at TAFE Toowoomba, tutoring English to migrants. I also worked as a business and communications trainer with Indus Institute. In 2023, I joined the YDAT team and have had the pleasure of delivering Certificate II in Animal Studies to school students in Toowoomba and the surrounding area. I am also working with students on a Skilling Queenslanders for Work project, delivering Certificate I in Workplace Skills and Certificate I in Retail Services. I believe in incorporating emotional intelligence into student learning. Emotional intelligence increases students' self-awareness, enabling a proactive sense of learning.
